I have been a great fan of Joomla for some time. It has some great features for those wanting an open source solution with many plugins and add-ons available. However, as also mentioned here I have been getting into Wordpress of late and finding that much easier to use... not sure it has the power of Joomla as yet but it seems for what is primarily a blogging app theres not much you can't do with it to suit other uses aswell.

I really love Joomla! and the nice website designs that can be done with it. I however, found the learning curve to be incredibly steep compared to Wordpress.

If you are writing a RFP or have received a reply to one. Go with Joomla it has a large developer base which is essential for ROI.

When you compare Joomla! to other CMS applications there is no doubt that it compares favorably feature wise. What sets it apart for me is the community. Over at Joomla.org the forums are highly active, and no other open source platform has both a security team, and a bug squad. Both of these groups are comprised of core contributors that actively monitor the bug reports, and turn around fixes for them in a hurry. I think that is an important consideration for
